Amazon just made it pretty easy and free to add a cert to an aws server.
I am sure this has been in the works for a while, but it indicates the time is right for the web to up its security game, ie Let’s Encrypt. You’ll notice they are sponsored by many prominent web companies, but Amazon ain’t one.
Which is fine, as AWS is a services platform, and LE can’t work in that environment at the moment. But it is starting to get interesting for those of us that care about such things. My concern is that it will remain that way, until this is a fully automated process, which is probably blocked until wide-scale adoption of HTTP/2.
