Google’s constant product shutdowns are damaging its brand

Developers can literally build their products around paid-access Google APIs like the Google Maps API, and when Google does things like raise the price of the Maps API by 14x for some use cases, it is incredibly disruptive for those businesses and harmful to Google’s brand.

I can confirm that their super rate hike in google maps affected me at work, and we took measures to move off them, to MapBox.

Not enough damage in my humble opinion but its a good start.

hot off the grill takes: “has become” is a joke; is there any way their maps business could be considered not a monopoly?
