You’ll probably need to replace the belt on a tape drive that old if it doesnt play or plays too slow when you’re done, which is it’s own process to find the right one, disassemble the thing right and swap it out.

i tried it with (admittedly old-ish) batteries and the motor moved for just a second, and then died. i then tried it with newer batteries and it didn’t move at all. so it must have other problems. new quest lol?

stage two of “fix my old red walkman with the clear box so you can see the gears” ! i probably need to replace the belt?
