Mirror resource usage

Continuing the discussion from Process the meta awesome list:

@tim, I am currently mirroring 128 repos on ATC. I haven’t noticed any reduction of service, but wanted to point out in many cases it is checking those every 8 hours. I don’t know if there is a way to increase the default to something longer (a week/168 hours).

On the other hand, it is a cloud VPS doing git checks, and I imagine that is a very fast interaction, and since these are all MS-Git, they are probably mad-cached for the lists that haven’t been updated in a while (again, of which there are many).

Let me know if it becomes an issue, we’ll work it.

There is a way to alter the refresh time. When looking at the repo…

Settings > Repository > Mirror Settings

I have been curious about the performance regardless, I’ll log in soon to check it out!

Yeah, and I’ve set that on some of them. Most of these I don’t actually need to update in real-time (I can always hit the sync button). But the default is 8h, and it is a lot of clicking to set it. If I process a list I might make that a checklist item.

If needed, of course; I’m betting git is crushing it.
